Hotel Zoo Berlin

Hotel Zoo Berlin

A soundscape that encapsulates the glamour of old Hollywood and the vitality of modern Berlin.

The regal townhouse of Kurfürstendamm 25 was originally built in 1891 as a private residence by architect Alfred Messel, one of Berlin’s most reputable architects during the turn of the century.

First opened as a hotel in 1911, Hotel Zoo Berlin has seen it all: decadence and devastation, renewal and transformation. If the walls could talk, they would tell tales of a grand boulevard that has stood the test of time.

Crackly gramophones laid the soundtrack for the swanky parties of the Twenties. The boulevard, lined with cabarets, cinemas, and theatres became dubbed the ‘Hollywood of Europe’. During the Golden Age of ’50s-’70s, the hotel became the official meeting point for the celebrated Berlin International Film Festival stars, and the likes of Romy Schneider, Sophia Loren, and Hildegard Knef glided from red carpet premieres to the hotel’s catwalk.

Today’s Hotel Zoo Berlin boasts high ceilings, stately rooms, and the impressive scale of the 144-room residence reference a lavish past, while a new polished interior restores the glamour faded by time.

The international cast of creatives and scene-stealers entering its doors today, would not recognize it from its former incarnation. Guided through the doors on a jade-coloured catwalk designed by Diane von Furstenberg, guests are transported from past to future.

Whether guests come to enjoy the exceptional Asian-European cuisine at Grace Restaurant, the vibrant atmosphere of the Grace Bar, or one of the city’s most spectacular rooftop terraces, the entire setting creates an alternate universe where everyday life is quickly forgotten.

A Music Identity for Making Memories

We crafted a fitting music identity for the hotel and curated the ever-evolving soundtracks for its lobby, living room, and the Grace Restaurant & Bar.

Days at Hotel Zoo Berlin start with calid tones that inspire the motivation and creativity of its guests for the hours ahead. The late morning brings melodic pop tunes, followed by sensual harmonies to convey warmth and a sense of comfort. Think of a glamorous, deep soul and contemporary R&B mix that blends into pulverising hip-hop beats with dazzling lyrical power.

Here, the urban spirit of West Berlin contrasts with the flair of the old townhouse. The evening atmosphere catches up with groovy, energising songs to accompany the cosmopolitan charisma of Grace Restaurant, the in-spot for casual fine dining in a stunning setting among local celebrities and Hollywood superstars such as Brad Pitt, Bruce Willis, or Goldie Hawn.
